After Hurricane Isabella destroyed the Buckroe Beach Pier in 2003, the City of Hampton began efforts to revitalize the area, including extending the boardwalk along the beach. The project required significant concrete work, so Kerrick Construction—already experienced with municipal projects for the city—prepared a proposal then reached out to SUNDEK of Washington’s Bob Miller to explore partnering as a subcontractor. Once bids and samples were reviewed, the project team decided that SUNDEK of Washington was the top choice for the job. Playful Children’s Garden
When the city of Austin began coming up with a plan for the new Alliance Children’s Garden in Butler Park, they had much more than an ordinary park in mind. Working with TBG Partners, a Texas-based design firm, they envisioned a plan for a play space that would invite kids to explore, climb, and engage in imaginative play. To turn this idea into a reality, the project team hired SUNDEK of Austin to complete the decorative concrete work for the job. Vibrant Splash Pad
McMullen County officials set out to create a community gathering space in Tilden, Texas, on land gifted decades earlier—now known as McMullen County Heritage Park. Featuring courts, exercise stations, BBQ areas, and trails to the Frio River, the park also includes a playground and splash pad. To bring the play space to life, Kraftsman Commercial Playgrounds & Water Parks partnered with Craig Roohan of SUNDEK of San Antonio, whose team overcame wind and mid-project redesigns to deliver a durable, high-performance surface. Stadium Standout
Wayne State University wanted a standout design for the outdoor space leading to their stadium—a surface that looked like a basketball court, complete with hardwood-style flooring, striping, recessed lighting, and a center-court logo. The SUNDEK team worked together to create a custom solution using SUNDEK’s Tuscan finish. Despite shipping delays and a tight timeline, the crew hand-troweled the Parquet Wood Plank pattern, applied custom colors, and finished the project in time for stadium opening day. Country Club Updates
When Richland Country Club in Nashville began a major $22 million renovation, they turned to SUNDEK of Nashville to update their entrances, terraces, and the 12,000-square-foot pool deck. More than 20 years after SON first installed the pool deck using Classic Texture, the board wanted to maintain the same durable, slip-resistant surface while modernizing other areas with a custom slate pattern. SUNDEK crews used SunStamp and SunAcid techniques to match the club’s stone pavers, navigating logistical challenges and a fully operational facility to deliver beautifully detailed, long-lasting surfaces across the property in just two months.
