Architectural Decorative Concrete by SUNDEK National Accounts

Don Snider began his decorative concrete journey at the age of 21, fresh out of Vincennes University after studying Architectural & Construction Management. In 1983 Don decided to leave NW Indiana and headed to the Dallas Fort Worth area looking for construction work. Don contacted the Texas Workforce Commission who directed him to a company listed at the top, All Texas Decks (ATD). Don called the number and Charlie Plunk was on the other end. Don quotes, “Do you have a driver’s license? (Yes sir.) Then meet me at 7am tomorrow at the Country Kitchen on Collins Street in Arlington, Texas”. That day was the beginning of his long Sundek career.

After 38 years, Don has worked in every aspect that goes into a decorative concrete business. Beginning with what Sundeker’s call “starting in the bucket”. Don was one of the first ATD hires. In 1983 he started as a crew leader installing the product for a couple years, then was promoted to Field Supervisor, and shortly thereafter promoted to Production Manager, managing 8 crews. ATD grew quickly under the ownership and leadership of Mr. Plunk who Don today considers his mentor and dear friend. Within a couple more years Don moved into a Sales role and sold $500,000.00 in his first year.

Another door opened in 1988 to purchase the dealership in Austin, Texas. He and his newly married wife Lori moved to Austin and began to develop the Sundek market in the greater Austin, and Central Texas area. Within 3 years after being told that the dealership would never exceed a million-dollar mark…in 1992, Don & Lori announced to Sundeck Products USA, Inc. that Sundek of Austin (SOA) exceeded 1 million dollars in sales. By 2007 SOA reached 3 million in sales. Then the call came from Mr. Plunk, “I want you to move back to DFW and work with the Corporate Team and with the Coatings Group to grow the corporate owned dealerships while expanding the Sundek National Accounts team as the Director of Operations.” In 2009, after 5 years Don was promoted to VP of Operations. Today with over 38 years with Sundek, Don along with his partners, proudly own the Coatings Group Inc.

If Don is not working, he enjoys time with his wife, son and daughter traveling, backyard cooking BBQ or spending as many days possible on the golf course.

Deidre Dann started with Sundek in 2006 as an administrative assistant, and she just keeps advancing. She’s successfully led multiple construction projects, co-led the technological advancement of the company & champions creativity whenever possible. From supporting architects & designers with design intents to encouraging quality & purpose with the Sundek National Commercial team, Deidre is a crucial component to the ongoing growth and resilience of the team.

You can find Deidre at her local spin class at 5:00am most mornings, playing frisbee with the dogs in the backyard or checking out local breweries/wineries with her husband & friends.

Rae Cerasoli has been an integral part of the Sundek National Commercial Team for nearly 20 years. Her energetic personality and passion for educating clients on creative uses of Sundek systems, makes her a key resource on all her clients projects from beginning to end.

Rae works closely with architects and designers to explore unique and creative designs that are also functional and long lasting. Including projects that have won industry awards. Rae earns the trust of her clients and in return, many projects originate from her ongoing long-term relationships.

Rae is inspired daily by her family and Sundek teammates. In her free time, she loves to listen to music and will challenge anyone at a good game of darts. Rae loves boating and finds her happiest place at the beach while enjoying her family & friends.

Jason joined the Sundek Family back in 2013 in the call center answering phones and setting appointments. During his time there and with much help he learned how to turn on a computer, type and navigate Sundek’s software system amongst other things. He put in the time to fully learn all the Sundek Products and application processes. Jason has shown time and time again a willingness to learn and drive to succeed, while always being open to whatever is asked of him.

In 2017 an opportunity opened up with the National Accounts team and he quickly jumped on it. Within his first year, he quickly grew his clientele with a dedication to customer satisfaction and relationship building. Jason is team-oriented, never shying away to step outside his comfort zone and be of service in any way he can for his team or others. He has proven to both Sundek and his clients that he can provide more than just a decorative concrete solution. He also offers solutions in other areas as well through the many relationships he has built over the years.

In all of his projects, Jason is involved from start to finish. This provides his clients the ease of mind knowing from design to conception, renovation to new build, they will be fully taken care of, and that the right product and application will be used to provide the best long-term solution.

His free time is spent outdoors either in nature or on some sort of ball field trying to stay as young at heart as possible. If not, you will find him on a backyard grill or in a kitchen cooking up some food to feed the masses as he always cooks more than he, his wife, and their young daughter need.

Chris is like the love child of Kool Aid Man and Rosie the Riveter, breaking many barriers for women in the decorative concrete industry throughout her 32-year career. Her accomplishments include ownership of her business, Classic Concrete Care, an all-woman staff, to project development and sales, all the way to her last role at TB Penick where she won commercial projects like, The Atlanta Botanical Gardens and the San Diego International Airport! She has been a tireless advocate for women in the industry and a promoter of Decorative Concrete Standards, focusing on everything from structural form that melds together art, design, architectural integrity, and functionality (you walk on it, she stands behind it!).

Despite all her hard work, Chris is a work hard play hard kind of girl and loves hanging out with her family on the river, listening to a little Zac Brown Band, with her toes in the water.

Scott has been in the decorative concrete industry for 4 decades. He started as a laborer. From there, he learned the trade through the years and eventually owned his own business. His business grew from mostly small residential projects to many large-scale projects. Most recently he spent 5 years in the Bay Area as the General Manager for TB Penick & Sons. He is now back in Texas and happy to see what the future brings as the Commercial Business Development Director – Central U.S.

Scott is an AIA and ASLA certified presenter. Scott is at his best when sharing with Architects and General Contractors all the possibilities SUNDEK has to offer from design to conception.

Thirty-eight-year hands on concrete industry veteran providing clients with solutions in design and construction. Bob began his career working with his father in their ready-mix concrete company in Maryland. After selling their business, Bob traveled the world selling and educating customers on their heavy equipment needs related to the concrete industry. Bob joined The Coating Group Inc. (SUNDEK) at Sundek of Washington DC (SOW) in 2010 as a commercial sales representative. Soon after The Coatings Group recognized Bob had far more than commercial sales skills and promoted Bob as the General Manager. Bob has been instrumental in developing the commercial market for SUNDEK all over the Eastern Atlantic region. Bob never met a stranger and loves to offer commercial clients solutions. Most often they were not aware of the possibility of using decorative concrete coatings to overlay surrounding concrete.

When Bob is not working 60 hours a week you will find Bob traveling with his wife Lori while still taking phone calls.

Michael Mercado has been part of the Sundek “Dream Team” since 2018. His passion for decorative concrete comes from his childhood growing up and watching his father install it. Michael is our Sundek National Project Manager, he makes sure our projects have the right materials, tools, and equipment onsite to have a successful result. No job is too small or big to oversee, but if you see him on site, he’s usually working with his crews providing a helping hand. When he’s not busy running projects, he enjoys representing our nationwide installation team through leadership, training & information transfer. The passion of this leadership comes from 5 years of active duty in the US Army where he was an Infantry Paratrooper.

Michael graduated from the University of Texas Arlington with a Major in Spanish. When Michael is not busy working on your project, you can find him on the soccer fields with his two young daughters, relaxing with his wife or simply just thinking of his next dad joke.

Dago started his Sundek career at All Texas Decks (ATD) in 1998 as a crew assistant and quickly moved up the crew ladder becoming one of ATD'd finest crew leaders. After several years with ATD Dago moved over to Sundek National Accounts team, running a commercial traveling crew of 4 men. Dago has performed top-notch Sundek installations spanning the entire USA, installing every Sundek system to perfection. There are only a few states that Dago has not left behind beautiful commercial masterpieces in design, coloring, and amazing consistent textures. Dago is committed to customer satisfaction on all levels. Dago is a great asset to Sundek National Accounts! Repeat customers ask for him on specific projects. When Dago is not hard at in on the road installing SUNDEK you can find him by the pool, BBQing with his family. Dago is a true family man!

Rocky is the newest traveling crew leader for Sundek National Accounts (SNA). New to SNA, but not new to the decorative concrete industry, Rocky has been installing decorative concrete coatings for over 5 years and is versed in all SUNDEK systems. Rocky loves to travel and loves even more to leave a project with his name on it. SNA is glad to have Rocky on our TEAM!

While the newest member of the Sundek National Accounts team, Elizabeth comes to us with years of experience in customer service, leadership, training, and an eagerness to learn & grow with our team. We’re so happy to have found her! She’ll be assisting you with mailing brochures & samples, providing content and information to assist with specifying our Sundek systems, executing pre-qualification documents & contracts, and supporting the customer service department.

When Elizabeth isn’t hard at work she’s enjoying time with her daughter, catching up on a new comedy tv show, or expanding her depth of knowledge of wine at the local wine bar.

Byron has worked in the Decorative Concrete Industry since he was a teenager. Klemaske owned his own decorative concrete businesses in Texas and California, where he launched Klemaske Brothers Concrete. He made a name for himself installing architectural finishes throughout the San Diego area. Later, while working at Progressive Concrete in Escondido CA, Klemaske was instrumental in developing both Micro-Top and Arte Povera. Both products are currently used throughout the world. After five decades in the business, Klemaske remains passionate about the concrete industry. Recently, Klemaske helped T.B. Penick secure a federal patent for a pervious concrete system called Pervious Concrete Elements.

Always an innovator and visionary, Klemaske continues to push himself and inspire the industry to evolve in terms of sustainability, functionality, new products, new uses, new finishes and new concepts of architectural and design beauty. Just two years ago Klemaske secured another patent for Imprinted exposed decorative concrete.

Klemaske prides himself in being a detail-oriented and scheduling expert. He works closely with architects, designers, and owners alike to ensure that each project receives the artistic supervision needed during each phase of the job. Klemaske also prides himself in keeping projects moving and optimizing the team’s performance.
