How SunPlay is Installed
Every quality concrete finishing project begins with proper preparation and ends with a protective sealer. Here’s what the SunPlay installation looks like from start to finish:
Surface Preparation. New concrete must be allowed to cure for a minimum of 28 days before installation can begin. For existing concrete, the surface must be meticulously cleaned, with all coatings, paint, or sealers fully removed. Preparation often includes grinding or other cleaning methods, and the surface must be completely dry before moving forward.
Application. Skilled SUNDEK professionals start by applying a SunPlay Primer. Once the primer dries, the first layer of polymer is spread evenly across the surface. A second coat is then applied while TPV granules are broadcast for traction and texture. For projects where additional depth or vibrancy is desired, this step can be repeated. To finish, two coats of acrylic sealer are applied to lock everything in place.
Curing. Allowing the surface to properly set is key. SunPlay is ready for foot traffic in as little as 12 to 24 hours, and it can safely handle water exposure after 48 hours.
